I'm very disappointed, I still cant get one. And I'm not paying £400 for one.
To be honest the £400 and lack of general availability is not surprising.
Why? because the distributor is probably refusing to sell to companies who will not agree to their minimum price.
I somehow don't think the price-gouging is anything to do with the distributors... companies like OcUK probably pay a bit more to soak up the initial stock (and then sell it at a further profit), but enough companies have them at decent prices for pre-orders to suggest it's not costing them much more than it otherwise will.
Of course some companies will just follow OcUK and price accordingly for a while...
£400 for a reference card with reference clocks is ludicrous (~£70 more than it will be in a couple of weeks). It's almost NVIDIA like.
"ATI Radeon HD 4870 HD" or "ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2"?
:)
but the 1GB 4870s are around £190 IICR, so the 4870X2 for about £400 inc first week gouging aint bad at all
