It's good, but it would be better if the panels under the 'featured' bar were in a grid. They seem to be in three columns but once you've scrolled down a few lines the rows don't line up and the items are all over the place vertically, which makes my head hurt trying to find things. It's natural for your eyes to scan left-to-right then down and left-to-right again, like reading a book, but you can't do that with the current layout.

Just the one teeny suggestion. Can you not call the Buy now: SCAN International : £399.49 just Buy now: SCAN : £399.49? It's fine, just a bit of a line wasted unnecessarily. It's rolling over onto a new line in my browser and making it look a bit disjointed.
Agreed with the above poster - though since I regularly visit the homepage, it makes little difference to me. But I can appreciate that it does make it look unnecessarily random.

If you all used FireFox this would become very easy - and this is something which we want to fix but it's pretty damn tricky - no doubt Steve will post the issue and someone will work out how to solve it...

I do use Firefox! I use v3 at work and v2 at home and I get the same thing in both.

Yes but due to people using IE we have to make sure code works on both...

why?
force them to use Firefox :devilish:
i must admit i was diehard set in IE (didn't see the point in taking up extra HDD space when there was a functional browser installed) until i actually started using firefox for long periods (eeepc) then it just became easier to use a singular browser and be able to have both the same.
it was rather annoying thos sites that say 'we've detected that you are running internet explorer, to view this site you should upgrade to Firefox', and that was one of the reasons that i didn't upgrade... as i felt i was forced into it at the time... but now, i see the light :D
although now that i do see the light, msn annoys me as using the email button forces IE7 to open :(

pfft...
We need to work with all browsers - trust me we would prefer to have to only work with one it's a tiresome task fixing and adapting code for browsers which fail to render things the same way....
Re: Headlines - HEXUS.net: all your favourite content now easier to find
Thanks, it looks much better.
Re: Headlines - HEXUS.net: all your favourite content now easier to find
Constructive criticism: the 'latest content' is now pushed down too far. At 1024 x 768 I can't even see it - the biggest thing on the page is a largely empty grey box with a bulleted list of section links, which I'm guessing is not how it's supposed to look. In Firefox 3 the grey box is big, in IE 6 it's huge.
But even if that wasn't there the 'featured content' box would still be rather large. Going from the top of the page down you have the top menu strip, an advert banner row, the orange announcement/search bit, the bulleted list, a 'category' menu strip, the 'featured content' box and only then do you get to the 'latest content' part, which is the bit I visit Hexus for! I've already seen everything in the 'featured' box. Several times.

Is it just me, I can't seem to find a link to the forums, from the new front page. I keep having to type the forum url manually into my browser? :(
