Opinions - Note to EA: don't exploit the world with Rock Band 2, please

We love Rock Band, but we can't help but think that the rest of the world, outside of North America, has been overlooked.

I reckon we (the UK) should probably see this after christmas now. The only reason they would do a worldwide launch is if they've enough of the new hardware kits - but judging from the delays I've been experiencing trying to source an additonal "rock band" guitar it appears they must still be having a few issues.

Oh and before anyone says "use a Guitar Hero" guitar, using one of them on rock band is like taking a shower in a wet-suit... it just feels wrong as the buttons are all clunky and the last thing I want in the room is the metronomic "click, click, click" from the guitar when playing along

I've never understood why massively global companies like EA effectively shut out a large part of their customer base when with a little more effort at launch they could launch to the whole world and get loads more sales on day one.

It has to add to piracy surely. If someone in Europe wants to play the latest game but EA decide for some reason that we aren't important enough to have it at the same time as the Merkins a lot of people will just resort to piracy (Disclaimer: This is not saying that it is right to do so, just that some people, not me, will. OK?)
Once they've pirated the game and played it at the same time as the US there is no incentive to go out and buy a genuine copy. If that person had been able to wander into Game and pick it up on the day of release most would do that rather than download it.

That's why region locks exist - 360 hacks don't bypass the region locked status. Without those region locks (as not all 360 games are) then yeah, I think you're totally right.

    EA always region lock however.

I really don't like the Rock Band guitar. It feels too light & cheap, and I don't like the soft button presses. I much prefer the solid "cherry keyboard" clunks of the GH3 one. I reckon the fret buttons are pointless also. Personal opinion of course.
