Re: News - EyePet on PS3: The next generation of virtual pet revealed

I kind of get the point of having a virtual pet rather than a real one, cheaper, cleaner, doesn't suddenly fall over and die, etc. but aren't they missing a pretty big trick with all of this...?

Why can't we have virtual pets which we can force to do crazy stunts for our amusement? If I want my pet monkey to ride a 1000cc motorbike through a wall of flame and over a shark filled tank then why can't I do it in the virtual world? I want to be able to attach a laser to a hamster's head and wire up a guinea pig with electrified razors and make them fight for their evening meal!

Why stick to the limitations the real world imposes when we are only limited by our imagination in the virtual world?

yea that is a point. i want my pet to fight other pets online.

but when some youngster trains their cat to fight a ferret say, with knives and forks, instead of blaming GTA, they'll blame eye-pet

Very good point. The likes of Nintendogs have done this virtual pet thing to death. The camera brings something new, but if it just rolls over and fetches balls it's a bit of a waste.

I like the pets fighting idea! Train them up offline and then bring them into the online arena to do battle.

LOL you guys are crazy.....I like crazy. I've been playing spore recently, Nothing original (been done before, just now it's more vast and in 3D). The stat system they have is pants though, not in the slightest bit realistic or believable. The worst thing is it's made by EA, ie. countless expansions, Sony malware DRM, etc.
