'The best option at the moment if you want to upgrade is certainly to the 60GB Premium'

No, that's your opinion of the best option, it's not 'certainly' the best option.

I'd say an Elite, lots of people would agree.

Not trying to be picky or anything but its kinda true with the 60gb being the best, the elite only offers a 120gb hard drive a smaller cpu(and gpu?) and black finish(could be done better tbh) but the 60gb pro offers a bigger hard drive(not compared to elite ofc) and an even better shrink compared to the elite and uses less power of something like 170w compared to 200+. Its a matter of opinion but define "best" in general, what it offers? stability/reliability? Price? Colour, does it match your tv?.

PS: im not saying your wrong or anything but there are pros and cons of every version, there will never be the "best" upgrade.

I have an elite (falcon 65nm) and haven't had a problem in the 1 and a half years I've had it. As for power consumption, I'd love to know where you've seen 200+Watts. http://www.anandtech.com/gadgets/sho...spx?i=3152&p=6

No, that's your opinion of the best option, it's not 'certainly' the best option. Maybe I should I have put my opinion in there! I didn't mean it to sound like this IS THE BEST, full stop!

Yep, that's my opinion, that's what's it's all about - and that is your opinion.

Hicks12 - I checked with Gamestation and indeed they will match any trade-in price as long as you can prove it. If they're not offering a decent price in the first place though, I wouldn't bother with them. I couldn't be arsed to prove that someone else offers a better, they know what they're competitors are doing, they just try and get away with offering worse trade-ins.

SOrry i must of mislead or got my information wrong, i wasnt refering to the elite as i know they used less power but i thought the newer 360+60gb version had another shrink and a lower wattage, i know before it was around 203watts and that was the power supply, i was a bit drunk earlier so might of missed that out(sorry if i did).

But the whole reason for the post was to say there isnt a "best" option its simply down to opinion.

Also, the bit where i said it was shrunk more than the elite was the only comparison, the wattage was just in general xboxs.

Yes, but 'only' a 160gb hard drive and a better finish? I like having a black console next to my black telly, and I like having 120gb of space. Reliability with Microsoft is never going to be great anyway.

    Its all opinions, innit?

The correct opinion is buy an Elite if you can afford it, its clearly the best one, though.

Well it does have its advantages over all of the consoles if you think about it, having it black is a good bonus (i did want one tbh, just couldnt afford) but after lookin at it in the shop window it looks poorly done, it was probably the glass and since i havent got one/seen one in the flesh then i cant complain. Im just saying that the if you cant afford then the 60gb is best and if you can then the elite will be, but to my knowledge the 60gb did get another shrink of 10nm or something so could aid in reliability, but as you said microsoft is never goin to have a reliable one only the original was the best.

wonder how long till the xbox has vista or something on it >

Re: Articles - The best way to upgrade your Xbox 360 hardware

I went into a local Game today and they were offering £90 for the 20GB 360 Premium.

Also asked about the old Xbox as I have one lying around, but they no longer accept trade-ins for that.

You should be cautious about buying a 360 full stop.

Re: Articles - The best way to upgrade your Xbox 360 hardware

my main reason for wanting to upgrade is peace of mind. i dont want my old premium to die suddenly and be left with nothing if ms wont repair it (its 2nd hand) so when i saw these 60gb models ive been thinking about it.

bonus that this article has given me the options i need to think about. i bet ps3 owners are laughing at all this fart about upgrade business.

Re: Articles - The best way to upgrade your Xbox 360 hardware

    This has happened twice now

About 5mins after I turn the 360 on, and am playing a game, I'll see a load of artifacts, (what looks like bad terrestrial TV interference), then it will freeze about a second later.
Its never done this before, but has happened both of the last days I have used it. Once was in Mass effect options screen, then the second was during a fight in the DOA4 demo. But I've just played Grid demo for 2hours or so after it did it earlier this afternoon and it seemed fine.
Is it a sign that RROD is around the corner?

If so I'm gonna have to decide what to do, dunno if it goes, whether just to go out and buy a falcon elite now anyway, then sell whatever MS send me back. You dont need to turn the broken console on to transfer your content do you?

I'd like to do a trade in, but seeing as I can trasnfer my stuff, thats out the window.
How much is a sealed RMA return worth if I sell it on afterwards?

What would you guys do? Do you think i should keep some money back to replace it? And will it cost me anything to send to MS?

    Cheers.
