SO Asus use cracked versions of stuff.......no big deal there! Nearly every major manufacturer or software house seems to use "dodgy" stuff....you can't stop all your employees from installing stuff can you!

There is one way - kill them. Kill them all.

According to an official statement from Asus (*)
Oooops!
(*) Oh alright, I made up the "official statement" bit. But I'll bet that that is a polite and heavily sanitised version of what senior management actually said.
Re: News - ASUS ships software cracks on recovery DVDs, pirates rejoice
well if microsoft can do it then they can :)
Re: News - ASUS ships software cracks on recovery DVDs, pirates rejoice
Funny as it seems it is not funny at all when you think how "professional" they are. If they allow this happen they could burn someone's credit card details or a trojan horse as well you never know what people keep on their PCs. Seems like a major security risk in their manufacturing. I would stay away from ASUS for that.
EDIT: Speaking of Microsoft - I guess they might be rather motivated to kick sh1t out of their a55 for distributing Microsoft confidential information in one brainless move like that...
Re: News - ASUS ships software cracks on recovery DVDs, pirates rejoice
Well let's be honest, ASUS could well be sufficiently licensed to use the stuff in question, but CBA to deal with the DRM/keys etc.
I mean, software protection inconveniences only two people: The legitimate owner and first the person to develop the crack.
Re: News - ASUS ships software cracks on recovery DVDs, pirates rejoice
it just goes to show you that even the biggest have trouble with licensing.

*EDIT* misread originally
"The 'crack' directory lists serial numbers for various software packages, while another directory is comprised of confidential Microsoft documents for manufacturers... including associated keys and program files.
The DVD also contains a number of internal Asus documents, original source code and an embarrassing Power Point demonstration that details "major problems " such as application compatibility issues.
One Asus user told a US forum that he had discovered company CVs on his recovery disc."
They will be in the poop for this

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...n_rolleyes.gif shouldn't they be in the 'serials' directory? or more specifically just in a text file?
