I see no trouble with it personally. The vast majority of people have no clue what they are buying anyway (OEM machines), the rest of us normally do our homework.
Luckily a lot of online retails list clock speeds, stream processors etc on the product pages, so its fairly easy to compare (as long as they get them correct!).
