This is fantastic news, a lot of the features I'm really looking forward to. I'm even warming to the idea of creating an avatar of my myself as well due to the wide array of customisation!
Whether the move away from the blade system to the new dashboard will be the right move time will tell...
I hope at some point Microsoft will allow people to customise the dashboard beyond colours and background pictures, that really would go down well with people who wrote some excellent dashboards for the Xbox.
Is it me, or has there been alot of speculation about the performance of this update? I have recently got my Xbox since the price drop, and have noticed (only on a few occasions, mind) when the guide slides out, and it lags quite horribly.
Just wondering if you think that because of the more obvious processing power this update will need, that it will make performance in games slower? Not sure myself...
Aw, shame it's on a Wednesday. Would have preferred weekend but can't complain, looking forward to trying it out!
I've always enjoyed the two-a-year software updates and having only one update this year has been dissapointing. The new dash should make up for it, I reckon.

The new dash looks sleek, can't wait to install some slow loading games with it.
Great news, been waiting to get this any word on the support of new resolutions?
Here you go!
"Those eagerly awaiting extra resolution and widescreen support from their Xbox 360 are getting a treat in the packed fall update. Not mentioned during the conference, but noted in a letter to Xbox Live Members from Marc Whitten, is word about upcoming 16x10 widescreen support, as well as 1440x900 or 1680x1050 output resolutions. This should make things a bit easier for people who like to hook their console up to LCD monitors and avoid extra scaling and bars when hooked up via VGA or HDMI."
New Resolutions!

Still unsure about the new menus on this one. So used to the Blades now, I know where everything is. Will give it a try when released and see how I get on with it, can always go back to blade if I can't get away with it.
you will still be able yo use the blades if you want i beleave
