News - Microsoft gives Windows 7 a name...

Hopefully the time/money saved in naming the product can go into making it better!

Just because they picked 7, dosen't for a second mean that there wasn't lots of time and money spent.

Re: News - Microsoft gives Windows 7 a name...

there's lots of research to be done, even with simple numbers

Windows 8 will be a massive hit in asia, for example. Windows 4 would have had the reverse

Re: News - Microsoft gives Windows 7 a name...

I'm happy they keeping the 7, I think the numbering scheme was the best and always thought the change to XP (I know it was a joint thing with AMD for their Athlon XPs) and then Vista was a bit crappy, and giving it a year was good but a bit misleading at times. (How many versions of 95 wer there? and 98se, what year was that lol).
Windows 7 just sounds right, its simple and effective.
But CountStex is right, just because its simple and they haven't changed anything, there will have been alot of money spent on research and marketing to simply decide to leave it as Windows 7.

Why not skip a few versions, and call it Windows OS X ?

    As well as what?

    Windows Vista..
it's nearly 2 years old now, and it still can barely run 'well' on many machines..
there's still a hell of a lot of driver issues and even more driver issues if you have a 64bit version.

    it's absolutely pathetic
