surely it should be 'slots in nicely below the VX450w.'?Quote:
and the CX400 slots in nicely below the well-regarded HX520.
This has me scratching my head a bit. Isn't the HX1000 made by CWT (yes, the same people who made my £28 XClio PSU), not Corsair? In fact, aren't all of their previous models made by either CWT or Seasonic?Quote:
The California-based manufacturer states that the engineering know-how that comes from developing high-end units such as its HX1000 has allowed it to create a "best-in-class power supply for mainstream users".
I'd love to know how that allowed Corsair to create a best in class power supply.. if indeed they have even created this one.
tis made by seasonic
luckyNV found a post by redbeard on another forum (i'll find the link...)
edit: here is the other thread: http://forums.hexus.net/scan-care-he...er-supply.html
see LuckyNV's post for the link to Redbeards post

Why are "low end" PSUs 400W? My systems have C2D's OC'd to 3.2ghz, HD3850s, 2Gb and HD and consume at spikes up to 175W when booting, 150W when running Orthos and 130W when gaming. Idles at 70W. Thats all at the wall.
I'd like a 250W PSU that was energy efficient. All 400W+ systems are never at peak efficiency when so lightly loaded.
due to the amperage on the rails?
But then I guess the cost of a decent 250W compared to a 400W is minimal.
Even those laptop power supply that gives 95W cost a hell lot of money.
Suprised how little power those C2D use. My desktop eats 80W more at full load / 90W idle than yours. But then I got a hell lot more HDDs.
How do you monitor what the total power used is?
you use one of these http://www.ecofreak.co.uk/products/1...y-Monitor.html:)
and that gives you the total that the comp is pulling from the wall.
No way of monitoring it via software?
either use a plug monitor or go by reviews, see what they get on the total wattage on a similar pc.
I need to get one of them plug things but im waiting for one at £5 :P.
Surely a good thing.
There is poor decent quality competition at the lower end.
Still I guess it really could be down to who manufactures the part and the warranty.
A product ill probably look at as well as the cheaper Hipers.
