What about prices?
probably priced high enough to make an oil tycoon cry...
say for £700 (just an example, I don't know the pricing either) for the 3GB kit? SWEET!

Me want Ultrabook
Where did you get the £700 from?
Good point, OCZ didn't provide pricing and it doesn't seem to be on those links either...
Well going on current DDR3 pricing, you could get 3 1GB sticks of 1333MHz C9 for ~£150 from crucial so factor in the tighter timings, voltage set to 1.65v as Intel suggest as a max and you will probably be looking at £200 I would expect.
With the processors themselves priced relatively affordably (c. £250 for 2.66GHz cheapest model, according to prices at overclockers before they removed them, with a 2.66GHz Core 2 Quad currently costing c. £180 I think), it seems a shame the other essential components are set to be so expensive. It'll deter most bar those with money, as in all cases it'll need a new motherboard, and most cases new RAM. What's more, for people such as myself with 8GB RAM (£100, btw), "upgrading" to say the 6GB of DDR3 mentioned in the article, would cost me hundreds of pounds but actually decrease my computer's performance - I already tried 6GB DDR2 and found it to be insufficient on Vista with no paging file.
Until I can get that amount of DDR3 at a reasonable price (say less than £200), Core i7 is out of the question for me.
When is the I7 out. I'm gonna sell my current rig and start building a x58 rig
Taking a quick gander at DDR3 prices again you can get 6GB (3x2GB) of Corsair DDR3-1333 9-9-9-24 in a tri channel kit for £210 from Scan so while still expensive compared to DDR2 not the end of the world, of course you are going to need the £250 for the CPU and £200 for the motherboard as well. That £660 could buy you a lot of Core 2 grunt, and if gaming I'm sure the money would be better spent on graphics cards.
Off Topic: Huftda do you really run 2x 1GB 4870's under Vista 32? you must have less than 2GB of system memory addressed get a copy of 64 bit now!
