3 Cameras £320000 a year thats £106666 per camera per year
Anyway since I live in the Swindon area I welcome the move, as it happens I don't speed in 30 mph limits and would much rather see the money spend on those signs that flash to say you are exceeding the speed limit, at a guess you can get a fair number of those for £300000, and more each year we don't have fixed cameras.
I am amazed that Swindon only has 3 speed cameras in the first place.......

Good plan - fixed position high visibility speed cameras aren't very good IMHO.
Better to go with the average speed ones that only result in about 1 in 10,000 actually getting a penalty because people actually comply with them better.
I hate those things. I spend more time watching the spedo than the road, and if I creep over the limit I have to slow down again a bit more just in case. In 50 in motorway roadworks for example I always end up with a lorry up my rear end because our spedos are set slightly differently.
And I'm not just moaning because I would normally speed, I actually tend to stick to the speed limit unless I have to keep up with the flow of traffic when overtaking. It would be a very expensive pain in the bum to be caught doing 51mph over 5 miles due to a slight downhill...
