Nice, early review, thanks Steve.
How does Fallout 3 fit with the technical capabilities of the X360? I remember Oblivion suffered from poor distant textures and some load time problems.

Are these good differences or bad differences? I saw some comments about freezes and pausing when you bring up XMB, but not sure if it's just in isolated cases. I'm not going to buy it just yet as I want to finish off Dead Space and Far Cry 2, so have some time to decide whether I want it on PC/PS3 yet.
Roll on Friday! I've had this on pre-order for what feels like an eternity. Great review for what I hope is a great game.
What we share with everyone is glum, and dark...
Ditto, also got this on pre order now for what seems an eternity. Can't wait for it after reading a few reviews.
Gutted that it was released yesterday in North America but we have to wait till Friday though
They were more minor niggles than big differences, they've actually explained there comments

Hopefully get this tomorrow.
i hate oblivion, i thought the combat was totally substandard, does that mean im going to hate this too?
The combat has nothing in common with Oblivion at all.
thats something then, i have left it pretty much off my radar due to the devs. I will go and have a bit of a nose then.
It is nothing like Oblivion at all. Just hope after all the hours I put into Oblivion that it doesn't spoil Fallout 3 for me.
From what I can make of the combat it is kinda like the old style pause and attack specific targetting areas. You can go in Oblivion style and hope for the best but the targetting system is what you want to use if you are getting swamped.
Gamespot say something similar:
It's a shame, in light of these impressive design elements, that the PlayStation 3 version is shockingly inferior to the others from a technical perspective. Although the Xbox 360 and PC versions display the occasional visual oddity and bland texture, these nitpicks are easy to overlook. Sadly, the jagged edges, washed-out lighting, and slightly diminished draw distance of the PS3 release aren't so easy to dismiss. We also experienced a number of visual bugs on the PS3. Character faces disappeared several times, leaving only eyeballs and hair; limbs on robots went missing; some character models had an odd outline around them as if they were cel-shaded; and the day-to-night transition may cause odd streaks on the screen as you move the camera around. This version doesn't even offer trophies, whereas the Xbox 360 and PC versions offer Xbox Live/Windows Live achievements.
Couldn't disagree more with some points of this review. Oblivion the game was not great, with poor voice acting, poorer animation and objects and a clunky user interface mixed in with jarring periods of immersion and frustration. To say that it had 'impeccable standards of gameplay' and a 'great and clear cut inventory system' are a couple of massive, massive overstatements. In that regard to compare Fallout 3's bastardisation of that system is a little unusual. Spot on with some of the other comparisons though to be fair. It really does feel like you're playing Oblivion with the continuation of poor animation and path finding and vacuous characters to name a few. It has it's good points, but the whole process of actually playing the game turns you against it. It's a poor indistinct cousin of the fallout series for the modern generation of game players.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
