    News - OLPC's "Give One, Get One" XO Laptop arrives in Europe

    The One Laptop Per Child association's XO laptop is to make its European debut today as part of the Give One, Get One program.

    as *nice* as the idea is i very much doubt people will buy this over a netbook... even if it is for a kid

    Also, how did the price go from $199 in the US, to $382 in the UK? Even with VAT that's taking the piss, and you can get fullly fledged netbooks for a fair bit less.

    When they first introduced this in America it was a great idea but they stopped anyone outside getting it and helping out. Now its over priced and as already said we get better netbooks for less. Miss your chance XO - sorry Kids

    aidanjt, the US price quoted is a single-unit price, so it's $199 if you're buying one system. If you're doing the "Give One, Get One" in the US, the price is $399 so you'll get one for yourself and give one to a child.

    The option to buy a single unit isn't available in Europe yet.
