Wow. Might have Star Wars 'bling' but I think that is what Trek lacked. It looks really good. I am willing to go into this with an open mind and enjoy it.

I do think though this is going to open up the way for Star Trek remakes.

Hopefully this will be the reboot the franchise needs. Fingers crossed
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

Re: News - Star Trek trailer #2: I like this ship, it's exciting

    It's definitely one of those...
    need.....
    to.....
    keep......
    pressing.......
    pause.........
    then forward a bit.......
    then pause.........

Wanting to look at the huge amount of detail in some of those frames.
    It does look gorgeous.

As for the Star Wars comparisons...... do you mean that every 6 months (post release) JJ Abrams is going to release another point release, fitting some more 'comedy' CGI creatures into the background, slipping on some alien poop, and shoe-horn in an extra storyline about a skull made of crystal etc, until every single frame of every scene is filled with things he "always wanted to do but didnt have the technology originally".
Because i'd like it if he did. I really, really would.
    Really, honestly.

    Not.

Looks good, maybe the main people would be better looking older(no idea why i feel that way) but simon pegg as scotty= win , i knew that from jonathon rosses show(not all bad) and atleast there are good actors in it.

Aren't most spaceships exciting? Even the shuttle which is the white transit van of space travel will make you clench when you start the engine

Does look interesting though, not sure if it it'll be worth a trip to the cinema(risk of trekkies is just to high), but I'll watch it at some point I think and I'm a sucker for massive space battles.

i'm actually looking forwards to this, heard a review on the radio the other day and watched the trailers... but i might have to take my dad with me to the cinema as cover for being a closet trekkie

There's so much to take in! Is it Spock's birth they're showing in one of the scenes? Also like the look of the angry Spock!

i dunno what to think tbh, it is a new direction...but ...
did kirk and spock in one of the old episodes, go to a planet, and were confused by internal combusion engines, yet kirk is clearly seen driving a car there?
its not gonna fit in very well now is it..

Thats my only worry, Star Trek is the main show where you dont mess about with the shows timeline at will which they have allready done on this at least twice.

It's very hard to fit in when so much has happened. I wouldn't blame them for starting with a clean slate - as long as they keep the personalities and general idea intact.

Re: News - Star Trek trailer #2: I like this ship, it's exciting

It looks cool, sexy and grown-up, all the things the previous movies pretended to be but weren't.
Ok, thats a little harsh. A couple of the early Star Trek movies were great, all the Next Gen ones are terrible (IMHO), and seem like nothing more than extended episodes.
This trailer gives the *impression* that this should be a much more cinematic experience.
Of course, it could turn out to be a load of juvenile tosh, crammed full of re-treds of every other action film out there...but lets try not to be pessimistic!

their was nothing wrong with the last few star trek movies. they was fine imo and kept true to the story and overal style of the star trek universe. this doesnt look like a star trek movie tbh. infact this is one of the best movies out of the lot > http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0253754/ it had abit of edge and in it but kept everything else intact. this however judging from the trailer seems like they slapped on the star trek logo on this movie :S

And why o why must u REMAKE the captain kirk/spock saga! why o why! leave it be and start off with FRESH NEW characters and fresh new story. enough of these silly remakes. im getting so tired of remakes after remakes after REMAKES! Holywood are really running out of ideas. what next? a remake of lethal weapon series? i wont be surprised if they do that

Seriously a series like star trek could easily be done with new characters and story

Oh Josh, oh josh.... Nemesis, really? One of the best? Come on..... i'm a fan, but even so, it was poor.

I agree about not re-hashing Kirk and Spock, however i think that the clear reason for doing it is financial.
A movie with "Kirk and Spock" in it will attract more of a paying audience than "Ubdulla and Dreen". Or whatever. Which is a shame, as a good film is about having a good story, not who the characters are.
