Can't really say anything about 10 but 9 was a pain on my t60p. there was no firmwares for my wireless card (ipw 3945abg) or sound (Intel hd audio) and after too many attempts to get the sudio working i gave up and installed ubuntu on it. everything worked out of the box.

Fedora has a very... purist... approach to some topics. This includes things like media support, non-free drivers, and soft-loaded firmware

However, Fedora is also the best distro to try out the latest bleeding-edge tech which eventually shuffles down to the other distros
