It's purely a fun piece to show what sort of stuff is on offer other than the usual Doctor Who, Star Wars and Indiana Jones playset stuff that people buy for Christmas... if you're that easily swayed by this kinda thing, maybe don't watch any commercial channels with your credit card within reach?

Actually, better value for you would be an online spellchecker? You don't have to buy it... how's that for a break? Lovely!

Re: Gifts for Christmas - Interplay Flight School Glider

Nearly did a knee-jerk post here, but held back to fully watch, consider and read.

Let me look at issues raised.
-age-
Yes she does seem a bit young . . . And? Sorry I've got no real problem there, granted I can see some people getting a bit stroppy over being told "what to buy" by someone much younger.
But I think that's more down to the show topic.

-She's a she!-
yes that's right and so is half of the population (or is it more?)
Well done hexus for calling the new presenter a "chick" on her first show and what a tough assignment you gave her.

-selling us cheap crap-
Well they do seem better than some overpriced "educational" "carp".
But these kits do seem a bit pricey, considering that you can get some good books that will contain this sort of project that you can make yourself, just don't have pre-supplied components.

And I bet that reply went through the said online spell checker and was proof read twice before being posted.

Now give her something challenging to do, you already have a very good presenter to cover the fluff stories.

Trust me, nothing we've done has not been without her full consent... even to the point of asking Laura her opinion on the show description.

Or maybe one for dyslexic people like me who still don't know the difference between words or even one for people like you whom are ignorant to the fact that not every one can spell but any one can talk ****e ......

Re: Gifts for Christmas - Interplay Flight School Glider

Oh come one dude, lighten up. I apologise for not knowing you're dyslexic, so sorry if I caused offence, but it wasn't ignorance through choice (which is the worst kind of ignorance imo).

As for anyone talking erm... rubbish, (I'm not gonna ping off the swear filter), yep, I can probably go for gold in that respect on certain topics... but in the context of this video, it's just a fun piece showing something different. I could say that I'm sorry you didn't like it but if I did that for everyone who didn't like one of our shows I'd spend all my time apologising and no time doing any shows or lining up stuff to film...

I'm sure there's plenty else already on HEXUS.tv that you do like and I'm sure there's plenty more coming that you'll like too... and I'm equally sure that there's plenty more stuff you'll not like but that's how it goes.

Re: Gifts for Christmas - Interplay Flight School Glider

i normally love you vids tbh ask my lass ... she hates them cos i listen more to them than i do to her.

Sorry for losing my temp. its been a while since some ones pulled me for my spelling and once youve herd it a few time it gets a little annoying. i do how ever use a online spell checker (built into firefox) Just it some times doesn't pick up my mistakes or doesn't understand my words.

My personal thoughts on them pre built "Rip off science packs" are just that. They put a few bits in that cost penny's and then call them science packs and charge £15.00 for a £1.00 peace of polistene (< See spell check doesn't know what im talking about). There are how ever some real Gems made by other manufactures that are much better for stocking fillers and cost far less yet are more informative. Just my option though.

I bought my son several sets for xmass and cannot wait to help him build them. I have nothing against the lady presenter or your self just them particular packs. E.g the hover craft one is approx £15 yet you can pick up the same item under a different brand for £4.99 which in this current climet is a much better deal all so in the box comes a full book about hover crafts.

again just my option thats all.

Re: Gifts for Christmas - Interplay Flight School Glider

hehe, no worries bud, and once again I apologise.

But now you've told me about the cheaper options I'll see if I can rustle something up on them. These ones dropped in my lap so I thought I'd give them a crack... but in these tougher times, price plays an important part in buying choices... as the retailers are gonna find out when I do my Chrimbo shop tomorrow.

but that's the same for almost every product.. costs very little to produce but then they sell it on for a lot more, Nike products for example, their trainers cost little over £10 to produce, ship and then sell but they sell for well over £70 or £80..

polystyrene btw .

Re: Gifts for Christmas - Interplay Flight School Glider

Yeh its probably me getting to the age of 37 and my son hitting 11 and me running round like a headless chicken looking for presents for him then suddenly coming to the conclusion what i will by for him is what i like and not what he likes lol ...

So i got him a loads of science toys such as PC microscopes, Electrical make your own radio, horn, ect ect. I even bought him a £350 robot that he has to build just so he has some thing different for every one else. For once i haven't bought him any games or consoles.

Re: Gifts for Christmas - Interplay Flight School Glider

erm... i don't get the kerfuffle....

it's a video... showing a little toy... zOMFG it's a girl doing it!!

seriously... WTF?...

if you don't agree with the content, then don't watch it... simple as really... (Oi! don't ask me how you can't agree with it without watching it ), and if you can't accept wimmin doing things on a tech site then you need your head screwing on properly, wimmin like tech too... right?...

TBH, it isn't really marketed towards adults now is it... its just a bit of fun you can give the kids to do, while at the same time learning (a very small noodle) about aerodynamics.

and anyway, pieces of lesser quality goods can be fun, i took a mini remote control car to a F1 in schools competition and we spent the whole day just driving it around (and then managed to insult Mr Denford )

Re: Gifts for Christmas - Interplay Flight School Glider

Excellent I was quite impressed with the gliders/house brick style performance graceful lines and delicate aerobatic manoeuvres it managed to hit everything but the thermals..

Kinda reminded me of those Balsa wood propeller type gliders back in the 70's with the wind up elastic bands and you was never happy with just 1 band no no no! more was needed just to see how far you dare take it before it brokted.. I wonder if they still sell them?

hehe, yep, i used to make those... five big rubber bands, wind it like mad and then watch the bands pull the entire prop assembly back through the meticulously glued fuselage... bugger.
