That is still stupid, why bother making it if they're losing $290 for 2 years was it?
they thought oh we will make loads of games?
They are really desperate for bluray success..
all console makers lose money. thats why the games are so expensive. Think the Wii is an exception though. It does mean they will lower prices soon though :) I really enjoy my 60gb ps3. I bought it for the bluray though. have guitar hero and a few others though so i thought it was worth it and i paid full price!
Because Sony get a cut of every Blu ray/PS3 game sold
They get royalties for the use of the Blu Ray technology so they make a loss on the selling price of the console to shift units, then hope the games and films sell well to make their money back
MS have done the same with the 360. It's not that unusual a practice to do
There was I expecting this to be an announcement of them cutting the prices a little so that it competes with the 360 a little better...
Ah well.
