    Computer Supermarket really likes its Ultimate Gaming package

    We're all used to manufacturers praising their products, but Computer Supermarket really really likes its 8GB Ultimate Gaming Package, and for £938 inc. VAT, does it have good reason?

    Re: Computer Supermarket really likes its Ultimate Gaming package

    So, they fill up the spec sheet with items they can get really cheaply (and are mostly pointless) and leave the main focus of a gaming rig, the graphics card, with an incredibly weak offering.

    For the same cash, I got my system which in real world gaming performance, is miles ahead!

    "nVidia FX 8600GT 512MB Graphics Card"

    That is already a bit off the mark to calling it a "Ultimate Gaming machine" !

    Put a copy of Crysis on this box and see what I mean...

    Re: Computer Supermarket really likes its Ultimate Gaming package

    1st thing never you just never buy a PC from a manufacturer who does not list the motherboard of the specific PC especially a gaming rig. 2nd thing "With a huge dedicated 512MB nVidia 8600GT PCI-E graphics card, you will be able to play any game on the market today with a level of definition and clarity that you will struggle to believe" - it's a complete joke 8600GT to play the latest games? It couldn't cope with my old X3: Reunion at 1680 x 1050 and I shouldn,t even mention Crysis which refused to run at all . Gaming rig? Give me a brake.... I can,t understand how this kind of advertising is allowed at this moment in time, it,s 21st century people!

    What is that faster than my 8500 ram?

    8GB DDR2 Ultrafast RAM could be 4 of these - 2GB (2x1GB) Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator, PC10000

    But at £379.51 each I highly doubt it

    Re: Computer Supermarket really likes its Ultimate Gaming package

    Jokes. This reminds me of a PC world advert I saw in The Times recently which implied that their amazing Packard Bell PC with AMD phenom processor would make the internet faster. Jesus.

    Computer Supermarket’s Ian Bird says "If there’s a better value premium gaming system on the market today we’ve yet to find it."
    Clearly Ian, you failed to look anywhere except up your arse.

    Re: Computer Supermarket really likes its Ultimate Gaming package

    Ultimate? They think they've created a machine so amazing that no one else will ever make one again?

    Not only will we all be glad to hear that, no doubt, but shocked that the ultimate gaming PC is DDR2. Seems like all that effort on DDR3 has been a waste.

    And a 8600GT...

    Shocking

    Re: Computer Supermarket really likes its Ultimate Gaming package

    You know, it might be interesting for Hexus to review this machine
    <cough>
    <hint>
    If the components themselves are ok, and it's 64bit Vista (which isnt specified that i have read) then it might in fact turn out to be an ok A/V editing / photo type machine, despite their claim of it being gaming...

    Re: Computer Supermarket really likes its Ultimate Gaming package

    Who in the world came up with the spec for that thing? If someone asked me to design the most unbalanced gaming system possible, I'm pretty sure that's close to what I'd have come up with... shocking.

    Surely they can be pulled up for false advertising?

    I cringed when I read that... verging on blatant lies there.

    Re: Computer Supermarket really likes its Ultimate Gaming package

    Hexus need to push for a review system. It would be interesting how long the reply mail would take, and how many o's "no" would have.

    Base system's fine, but oh dear on that graphics card. It was very disappointing when released, and with the 8800GT and for that matter GS, and the HD3800s being released, it's frankly pathetic. Sticking a X1950 of some description in the machine would be a much better idea performance wise, but oh no, then you couldn't stick a DX10-ready sticker on it, could you? Damn my lack of marketing skills.

    I'm blown away by how stupid that spec is. How can they have the balls to make a claim like that?

    Go on Hexus, see if you can get a machine to review!
