Sony announce Killzone 2 PS3 bundle exclusive to U.K.
I MGS4 didnt get me buying a PS3 then this second rate shooter sure as hell won't. Maybe if they dropped the price to a reasonable level (sub £200) and got some exclusives I wanted to play and bought back full ytilibitapmoc (backwards compatibility) I'd think about it.
Considering what you get from a PS3 its already good value for money. Especially if you want to watch blu-rays as well. I got my 60GB version when they first came out as a blu-ray player and i paid a hell of alot more that what theya re going for now and i havent looked back once.
I have also owned a wii (got bored of it and sold it) and an xbox 360 (3 red ring of deaths in 3 months) which i got rid of as it was as unreliable and Windows ME.
Im not a fanboy at all. Its the first console ive bought since the ps1. I still prefer the pc. But i consider the ps3 excellent value for money.
For my own preferences the PS3 offers little incentive for me to buy. I thought that 2008 would have been the year that Sony got both hands on the market and did something useful with the console but thus far its still very uninspiring. Killzone 2 looks good, but that's it. I still wont be buying PS3 but I hope that Killzone does well, we need the competition.
the ps3 is competing with the 360. it had a good year last year and even outsold the 360 at one point last year.
it has more or less the same games that 360 has and as got some very good exclusive games like MGS4, LBP and apparently killzone 2.
people moan about the price but dont realize what you get with your money for it. with your 360, add the cost of a HD DVD add on, wireless card and xbox live, you will see that the 360 costs more then a typical sub £280-£300 ps3 that comes with everything besides a headset.
im just saying its good value for money and offers more out of the box then the other consoles.
we cant say they are pointless features either as alot of people like to game online, alot of people have wireless setups(almost every isp known to man supplies a wireless router) and the blu ray? well it can be pointless for people who dont have an HD TV but it can however be useful for people who loves movies and has a HD tv to boot.
just my 2cents as they say :P
Then again, I plug my Xbox straight in to my router, I bought an xbox with a harddrive, I dont see the point in blu-ray.
There arnt enough exclusives to make it worth me buying a PS3, I dont really understand the concept of LBP it dosnt look that impressive, Killzone looks like just another space shooter, the only game I really want to play is MGS4, and even that isnt enough of a draw for me to spend £300.
I think the PS3 is a longterm investment at the minute, in a few years time the games will still be improving, if Sony are to be believed but I think the lack of RAM is going to hinder this greatly, while the xbox will be at its peak. Then again the new Xbox will be released and I wouldnt be supprised if it was at a similar price point to the PS3.
PS: Im actually a Sony fanboy, because they make some of the best quality goods out there, but am very disapointed at them and their attitude with the PS3.
well in terms of killzone being just a notehr sci fi shooter, well the same could be said about gears of war really.
well anyways if the ps3 exclusives are not enough to draw you into a ps3 then yes its not worth having one. TBH i would of never have bought a ps3 if it wasnt for the 360 failing on me soo many times.
i can honestly say that there are a handful of ps3 users like me who where forced to convert because of bad experience with the 360.
if the 360 was as reliable as the ps3 is, then imo i think ps3 would have been long gone dead by now as me and many others would not even bother going for a ps3.
overal the PS3 is not a bad console to have. its quiet, has most games 360 and pc have, free online to boot plus blu ray makes it a decent console to have but as you pointed out, not many exclusive games from your point of view.
The downfall of cross platform gaming imo. gone are the days where each console had its own set of games. now its whoever comes out with the first console wins due to games being cross platform.
i wonder what it would be like if the ps3 came out a year before the 360. it would be the reverse of whats happening now imo
Im not sure how successful it would have been to be honest as its launch price was well above the level any one I know was comfortable with paying.
I for one dont miss the old days of mass console exclusives, however I feel that they should all get together and create a God console together they would all end up with more out of it and the consumer would be better off as well.
I personaly dont see the RROD as too much of an issue any more, I can see why people are worried by it and Microsoft dropped a huge bollock not picking it up, but I dont know any who has had a problem with it, other than the second hand one I bought first of all. But it should be fixed now and Microsoft offer a lifetime warrenty on the RROD now.
lifetime warranty? no they dont. its a 3 year warranty for rrod
I stand corrected, I was helpfully informed by the sales person that sold me the thing that MS had issued a lifetime warrenty to cover the RROD, oh well hopefully the next next gen will be out by the time mine goes, if it does at all.
As for Gears of War you mentioned previously I agree its just another SciFi shooter personaly I dont think its all that great.
lifetime warranty eh? can anybody else confirm this? great if its true. might whip out my 360 then
