Re: News - Intel's 65W Core 2 Quad processors now up for pre-order
are they worth it?? err no. as the intel boards use more power there not as far infront as they seem
Re: News - Intel's 65W Core 2 Quad processors now up for pre-order
isn't this just opening up Quad cores in laptops a lot further?
i've seen a couple of laptops using the 95w Q6600, so a 65w version would be much better in a laptop :)
Re: News - Intel's 65W Core 2 Quad processors now up for pre-order
These aren't aimed at notebooks - Intel already have 45w quadcores for notebooks at even more inflated prices

No die shrink....I guess these are binned based on a low VID?
Might be good overclockers but thats a massive premium to pay for the privilege.
I guess OcUK will do "guaranteed overclock" versions for even more insane cash :P
Re: News - Intel's 65W Core 2 Quad processors now up for pre-order
You would need to save a lot of electricity to be worth the premium. That or desperate to get your 3DMark Score higher with a potential higher overclock to pay that much.
MAybe worth it for a DataCenter running lots, but for the enthusiast I don't think so.
Re: News - Intel's 65W Core 2 Quad processors now up for pre-order
A datacenter wouldn't use these anyway.
