    be interesting to follow this one;

    Suppose we can hope and pray for a perfect media player, but so far I've not found one that even comes close!

    Re: News - QNAP teases NMP-1000 Network Media Player

    I'm well aware of PCH. However, let me explain why it still doesn't tick my elusive "perfect" box.

    I've around 300 dvds. So can I pop them into a PCH when I fancy playing one and have it upscaled to 1080? Nope. I'd have to rip them all first wouldn't I? And my Blueray disks? Yup, same applies. And from that onboard laptop drive, just how many of my collection is actually going to squeeze on there whilst maintain all the quality and sound?

    Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they're not good, but they're also not perfect. Is there an official UK distributor yet? I seem to recall when I first looked at them, a uk distrubutor was lacking

    Thanks for the heads up though, I shall see if they've improved from when they first launched

    I like the look of this NMT.

    Had to comment on what you said though, NETWORK MEDIA PLAYER. All the clues are there! If you want to play DVD/BR get a BLU RAY PLAYER.

    The idea with these is that you have the player connected to a network share and ofcourse the internal drive if you want to take it to other locations without your network. Yes, put the discs on network drives!
