No it cant be, did i just see........ SALE OF DLC???!!!!! **** off microsoft stop trying to salvage more money from pc users that already seem to be getting the **** deals with less games and crappier console ports, now they want to take away one of the best parts of pc gaming? Free content is for pc, modders will be pissed i bet as now they need the hassle with microsoft. Anti piracy point seemed the only worth while thing.
Is actually a very good idea. :)Quote:
• Roaming: PC gamers can now save their personal settings back to their Games for Windows – LIVE account in the cloud, providing access to their settings on any compatible and connected Windows PC
^^ If it goes as far as syncing your save game progress, yes. Sounds a lot like Steam Cloud though :)
This won't stop free content from appearing on PC. It just allows those game makers to create more content and charge for it, just as it happens currently on 360 & PS3. It won't hurt the modding comunity, a fair number of game makers actively support that comunity so they won't want to see that stopping.
The changes seem good to me, after the annoyance of Dawn Of War 2 where you needed a Steam account and an LIVE account seemed a little over kill to me. This is one of the best ways of getting rid of DRM on the disc's, and one that i'll support if it makes things easier for me.
It's only settings-only for now but back when it was announced last year, there was mention of syncing of save games. Doesn't look like they've fully enabled the service yet.
Settings-only is a start but I'd love to be able to continue a game, where I left it, on another PC :)
I wonder how they'll implement all of this for games like GTA IV and DOW2 where they're both Steam and GFW Live enabled? :juggle:
I think a "groups" type service would be good, like on steam. Be good to play some GTA with hexites as appose to the cheating/modding/flaming children who seem to be in every game I enter.
They need to increase the cap on the number of people in your Live friends list. 100 gamertags is far too few.
Also I agree that a way to sort/group/tag them would be very handy.
Steam just set up a bunch of stuff to get paid DLC running, so its not just MS. That doesn't stop it being really awful. All in all I still want MS to stop trying with GFWL, otherwise split personalities like DoW2 are going to keep happening. Steams the better service right now, out of those two its the one that should survive.
