Die Hard references = Dead HARDware?
Has to be said - this is one of the better april fools of quite a while, esp as we *have* seen higher dead pixel rates in the last 12 months!
Oh Goddamnit! I was about to ask here about the warranty for Acer monitors!
...Wish I would have thought of that.
You guys got me big time for a minute.
Then literally, three minutes after having a near heart-attack my monitor developd a totally real problem, how's that for bad luck. a green line of stuck pixels down my 3 month old Samsung 2443BW.
Samsung have already arranged a replacement following a 10 minutes phonecall though, so very impressed at their technical support.
very good!
OMG! my monitor has loads of dead pixels :(

which she followed up withQuote:
We contacted JMC with the evidence and spokesperson Holly Gennaro provided us with this response:
JMC has recently identified an issue affecting a small number of TFT panels manufactured using a particular fabrication process. In rare cases, transistor gates may break-down on the panels, resulting in stuck sub-pixels. The panels were manufactured between 2007 and 2008. We are working with OEMs to determine the exact product lines that may have been affected.

I'm glad you finally opened this for comments! I'd actually read the entire article before I noticed my "dead pixels" - Shows you how much attention I pay to my monitor!
p.s. I also really wish I had a computer using IE 5 or 6 kicking around, since they were notoriously bad for handling "position: fixed".
