These all seem a little lame now. Apple just reuse the same messages over and over, not really pointing out the real benefits of macs and instead just putting down window. Seems a little pathetic now, certainly not as funny as they were a few years ago.
Agreed with the above. I love how there advert rips into microsofts "support" when it really isnt bad, i had a mouse that broke(itellimouse) and they replaced it free of charge after many years! My friends apple ipod broke and they wouldnt even fix it so how is microsoft bad?. Part of the advert says something about them only selling PC's which is a lie again as they sell SOFTWARE, when will apple give up with the stupid marketing abuse and sort out their own OS? At least microsoft are trying with theirs like the change from xp->vista and now W7 which owns, MS release adverts ripping into Apple but only every other month afaik which is normally after apple have done crap loads.
edit: it makes me hate apple more as they think they are the best when they are far from it and shows they wont really take onboard problems as they are ignorant.
Isn't it false advertising suggesting that mac's don't crash or get viruses?

Yay more, these are just getting tiresome now![]()
Well, they do kernel panic for sureHowever, when it does happen it is a good 98% of the time due to RAM that's failing or a serious hardware issue. I should know, I've been through *quite* a few macs including a couple G5s and a Mac Pro now. If I were to count the number of physical machines I've been through, it's definitely around 15 to 20, and all since 2002 when I got my first.
In fact, my first Mac Pro had a serious issue with VUZE/Azureus triggering an issue in the kernel that to this day is STILL unpatched. Can't live with uTorrent so I've got a dedicated torrent server (running Ubuntu) and that actually works great as it frees up a ton of resources considering that Azu is a resource hog...but still has the best DHT by far, which is why I cannot ditch it for lighter apps (Transmission not for the hardcore user...sorry!).
As for the virus aspect, that's news to me. Do they get infected? Never happened here tbh, and do not like to run virus scanners as they kill performance. I always was under the impression that due to their *nix/Darwin roots the most damage any carnage an unruly script could unleash would be limited to that user account? Thankfully OS X ships with 'root' disabled.
I'm not a Mac zealot, just been using them for years and not had too many problems. I mainly run Mac and Linux and do boot my server into XP when I need to run certain engineering apps. Am keen to hear on the Mac + Virus issue though!
Touching on the ads, they are in poor taste tbh. If PC's were so bad, why even bother allowing Boot Camp? Hello, the Macs 'are' PCs (even more so thanks to intel inside) they have been even in their IBM powered days. PC = P e r s o n a l Computerrr...WTF!![]()
While there is no where near the amount of viri written for the Mac platform there has been one relativly high profile case recently.

Although not a malicious virus it still had full admin rights. But it came from pirate copies of Photoshop and iWork so its the infecteds own faults.
The fighting between Mac and MS is just getting petty now, yes Macs are expensive, but so are decent Windows PCs, during my recent extensive search for a new 13" laptop I actually found that the Macbook was actually a very similar price to Dells Studio XPS 13 for a similar spec. But with my student discount the Mac actually worked out about £150 cheaper including Apple Care.
As a lightweight college internet machine it is perfect for my needs. The lack of viri is a deffinate plus for something I am using for the majority of my internet needs.
While I really like my Macbook I dont think I would buy an iMac or Mac Pro, for a highend gaming machine you cant beat Windows and freedom of choice on components, along with the fact that nost games dont come out on OSX.
I wish both companies would just sit down shut up and spend their money on more R&D.
My gaming is limited to the Xbox360 so it was never a decision when choosing my primary computing platforms. What is most important to me a reliable OS with high data integrity and there is a lot I could go into about the OS X architecture/features that I really love but it would be OT here.
If gaming is a priority, I'd never recommend Mac either.
Well said![]()
This just occurred to me. When she said she wanted a big "screen", which part of the male anatomy did they refer to in the video cause all their heads look to be about the same size![]()
These adverts are aimed at novice computer users who clearly don’t know how to install an anti virus on a Windows machine (Norton doesn’t count as an anti virus). I have been using Windows based computers for 12 years, and in that time I have only ever had one virus that actually caused me a problem where I had to format, which was also my fault for going on a dodgy site without an anti virus installed.
I have been mostly xbox gaming the last year as well so it wasn't something I was looking for. However I have got Crossover Games so I can play some MMOs while I'm away, along with bootcamp set up with W7 for testing and some work that requires AutoCAD.
As it is the stability and speed of the machine has been outstanding, added to that the amazingly tactile multitouch track pad Im one happy bunny. Im not a full Apple convert but Im happy, actually trying to convince my missus that she should get a MBP as she only ever plays Sims and works on her website, and it would stop me having to fix what ever it is she has broken in Windows.
wow more of the same tired old crap from apple.
as i said in the previous thread on similar subject... they say they have no virus' (which as previously mentioned, is incorrect) but the only reason behind that is the mac user base is so much smaller in comparison to windows. The more of these advertisement campaigns that are successful and the more this userbase grows, the more likley people are to start writing virus's for OSX. Its a complete paradox and pretty ironic but one day it WILL bite apple in the arse in a really bad way/

I love the way that the mac ads when analysed quite clearly indicate that their target group for marketing is squarely in the moron sector.
