I wonder what the actual street price is going to end up at.

Could force the 64GB samsung and 120GB Corsair down a bit as well.

Not bad. At least it's progress in terms of price.

the 64GB Samsung can be had for £91.99 at Novatech..
that's the slower version though. but it's on a par with those Kingston drives.

Not for popular drives like the Vertex. Prices for some of them have gone up.

Hmmm still feel that waiting another year to 18 months perhaps will really reap the dividends with these drives ... but by all means all you prospective pioneers of the technology buy these by the dozen - so I can get my 500GB SSD for the same price as this ...

The 64GB drive is actually close to the price of a 64GB flash drive... which is impressive. Does anyone know - do they support the TRIM command?

Re: News - Kingston launches value solid state drives - 64GB for £96

you'd have to be "mostly" mental to buy an ssd now. Pretty much everyones saying that the newer, higher capacity, smaller process nand flash production is kicking into gear later this year, maybe september-nov at which point nand flash prices are expected to drop HUGELY due to much higher yields of smaller chips that have higher capacity.

Its expected that costs of drives from almost all manufacturers will come close to dropping to around 50% of current prices because the controllers really cost smeg all at the moment and almost the entire cost of the drive is in the nand flash.

Sure if you're desparate or need them for work where your income is based on the time taken to do things that are hdd dependant, or you're mr moneybags. But with Win 7, dx11 coming late q3 early q4, and cheaper ssd's due for around the same time, that would seem to be the best time to buy an ssd.

Thats what I was refering too.

The article lists the MSRP not the street price, so I would expect it to be sub £90 for the 64GB, and probably push the Samsung down a bit too.
