In all honesty why do they charge more? Is there really anything different at the end of the day? If not why don't people just buy a PC version of the card instead?
Re: News - EVGA launches GeForce GTX 285 Mac Edition, includes mandatory Apple tax
I think you are overlooking one of the main differences with this and the PC version... it has a MAC Edition label on it so i am sure most will agree with me here its worth the extra $100.00 :)
Re: News - EVGA launches GeForce GTX 285 Mac Edition, includes mandatory Apple tax
So... if you plugged the PC version of the card into a Mac, would it work? If not, and they have had to make fundamental architectural changes to the PC version to make this card, then I can understand the price premium as they would need to recoup devleopment costs - and presumably they won't be selling too many of these...
But if the above isn't the case, why on earth would this card even exist? :O_o1:

Slightly modified firmware + "Mac Edition" label + gullible mac owners = moar profit!

lol. For a minute I thought the Mac one is hardware-wise different to the PC one.
