Even though the technology doesn't seem ideal, they do look sexy and I could imagine getting quite an advatage on a FPSer

but if the game rendering engine didn't realise you had a curved screen, how would it really help? Your fov would still be narrow.

Re: News - NEC makes super-wide curved monitors a reality

FOVs are normally set depending on the resolution.

Can't see why the curve should really effect it.

Re: News - NEC makes super-wide curved monitors a reality

It's frankly embarrassing in my opinion that they've managed to release a 43" wide monitor that costs £8,000, and still has less pixels than a far cheaper 30" monitor. I'd actually pay more for the 30".

    2,880x900 or 2560x1600 - hard choice.

Hangon... I thought we got rid of curved monitors a few years ago! Now we're getting them back?

Re: News - NEC makes super-wide curved monitors a reality

    Wow, what a waste.

It should be at least four normal monitors put together.

For instance, if it was four 1920x1200 widescreen monitors side-by-side, it would be 7680x1200.

Or if it was four 1600x1200 4:3 monitors side-by-side, it would be 6400x1200.

I cant believe anyone would even consider wasting their money on this. It only has 900 vertical pixels -- that's not even HD :/

Things would be so stretched out, it would be retarded.

Re: News - NEC makes super-wide curved monitors a reality

Hmmmm.... someone humour me, would your games automatically spot that resolution and go "yep, I can handle that" without stretching everything?

And if it's only 900 pixels high, presumably you could have 3 of these things running, giving you a near 360 degree gaming environment, and STILL be able to run them off a couple of 6600gts! Result!

Most games will work with just about any resolution and have done for a while now.

Go back a few years and it was a different story though.
