Aww snap. The iphone 3gs's more power and more battery life leave me hoping that O2 might do an upgrade scheme and that it will actually be reasonable rather than the extortionate price they are to begin with anyway. Plus if the rumour that the exclusivety to O2 in the UK may be fading the prices may drop to be competitive anyway.

Lets hope they do us some favours this time round eh?

    Oh My!

Apple is no longer been reasuringly expensive? The $99 iPhone is going to sell like hot cakes. There is nothing that can come close at that price point.

But still loving the non user seperatable batteries, have they started doing a freepost recycling service yet?

    but:
a number of demos which failed to work
Haha, with all their MS bashing, i can't remeber the last time that happened to them. Even with Blend previews been run inside the IDE still :S

Those MacBook Pros ... up to 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo, but listed options only go up to 2.8GHz? It's not a Hexus mistake as far as I can tell because the macrumours site said the same. Can I assume the listed options are a subset for launch, with a refresh to 3.06GHz next Jan or something?

thats not a new macbook pro thats just the old "new macbook" and they have printed pro on the front of the bottom of the screen... Are the prices even different? You also still cant have a 7200RPM drive for it which makes it a complete pain for ppl doing video + audio work.

Thats cheap for snow leopard though, actually genuinely quite suprised by that!

you can upgrade the top 15" +17" ones to 3.06 once you get to the configure bit

Im wondering if microsoft will change the price of windows 7 upgrades since leopard to snow leopard os so cheap and vista to windows 7 is the same kind of change mainly just under the hood improvements.

The best they could do to 'bash' W7 was to say it was based on Vista? Oh dear.

Apple don't half make themselves hard to like - a shame when some of the stuff they do is very good.

If you are both referring the Snow Leopard upgrade price ($29?) then that was actually promoted by reports that Microsoft would be offering Windows 7 upgrades for $49.

WWDC was just a massive Windows 7 bash. Sounds like somebody is scared.

Too true - Sometimes I think there entire advertising could be summed up in the words - Microsoft sucks, we don't...

Its shocking because they actually do have some differentiating factors, they should actually list those, and explain why its something you would want in your life, not act like kiddies.

Re: News - Apple WWDC '09: new MacBooks, Snow Leopard and iPhone 3GS unveiled

In the few hours that I got to play with Safari 4 last night I quite liked it.

Quite looking forward to Snow Leopard, if only for the extra 6gb of space I'll get back. It seems that Snow Leopard is an improvment in efficiency and resource managment over Leopard, where as W7 is an evolution that is still very bloated.

However like everyone else has said they are a very hard company to like sometimes.

No Blu-Ray in the MacBooks, but thats no real surprise. Guess I'll be going with a Windows laptop.

Gonna have to disagree with you there. W7 is lean and mean in my books.

to be fair windows 7 still uses quite alot of disc space. 8GB just for the OS. you can install debian, ubuntu or fedora etc in around 5gb.

overall windows 7 is a decent OS. still doesnt have driver for my wireless card. but I just used the vista driver.
I just wonder if microsoft will keep making it better or get lazy again.

I havent had much chance to try OSX but it looks like a nice OS.

Depends on a number of things though - not least of which is the size of your memory (and therefore pagefile and hibernation file) but to me it's irrelevant given how cheap disc space is W7 is around 5gb (just under) factoring those out.

Hard drive space is a moot point. Hard drives are so cheap these days, it isn't an issue.
