    These synology units are excellent, but the 209 is £250 and 2x 750GB (for RAID 1) WD Green is £100... so ~£350. I doubt 2 of these is much noisier than 4 2.5" drives.

    This one + 4x 250GB (750GB RAID 5) is going to cost in excess ~£500+... going to take it a long time to burn through £150 worth of leccy...

    I'm sure this comparison gets worse as desired storage capacity goes up... best to stick with a 2 drive unit for 3.5" drives.
