Certainly will. It'd be nice to get both of the home machines on the same OS.

Any ideas if MS have the same restrictions for virtual use on the home premium version as I'm tempted to buy a copy for the future. At £49.99 its a bit of a steal.

It's prohibited unless you have the business or ultimate editions by the EULA to run them in virtual systems EG VMWare fusions.

Almost definitely. Having used the RC as my primary OS since it launched, I think I'd struggle to go back to XP, and I never got on with Vista. I'll be buying 2 copies though - just wish they would announce the 'family-pack' pricing already.

Looking at...

... Professional offers nothing over Home that I require, but are there any less obvious differences?

For that price i think i probably will grab the professional version, would be interested if the promo inlcudes the windows N edition, without bundled IE and Media Player. I think the £100 price tag is justified, certainly wouldn't want to pay full whack (£190) for it a few months down the line. I'm not planning on rolling back to vista or XP so the promo is welcomed.

I'm planning on getting the home edition tomorrow. I like the "feel" of it better than XP enough to spend £50 and DX10+ is a slight boon.

£49.99 seems like a good bargain for a full OS, and the fact that it is an excellent OS certainly helps. Shame Ultimate is not available in this pre-order deal. Might have gone for that if it was priced reasonably.

Probably will pre order it too..seems like a good deal to me. Liking the RC so far.

Bonus, I was going to buy through Amazon but since Play is listed I'll use them and get cashback too (QuidCo). I'll be ordering Professional for my main rig and Premium for the netbook. I've no complaints regarding the prices - these are around what I'd expect to pay for OEM editions, at least with these (unless the EULA states otherwise) I'll be able to legitimately transfer them when I upgrade.
Edit: Actually it looks like I could get a better cashback rate by buying it directly through the Microsoft Store - QuidCo currently has them down as paying 15% on software purchases :)

Not really a big concern but Wiki has home premium as limited to 16gb of ram and prof is 192gb of ram, not that many of us have that much mind you lol.

I'll definitely be placing an order (for Home Premium). I do have one question though: Does it start after Midnight or is it likely to just start at 9am or something?

I personally am not impressed that Microsoft has not yet made the Ultimate version availiable for pre-order. Having purchased Vista Ultimate a while back for a premium price I would of thought that Microsoft would of liked to give a bit of an incentive to upgrade. I have run the upgrade advisor and it rather cheekily says that as I have Vista Ultimate, I should upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate! Not for £200 I won't!
