Great news!
I think I'll stick with CDBurnerXP - free, lightweight and it works and all for a 3MB download. No bloatware for me

Great so it will burn a data cd or dvd. then you pay to upgrade to get the dvd video and music capability....
Sod that, I will stick with ImgBurn, InfraRecorder and CD Burner XP Pro, between all three I have the best of all worlds and not a penny spent

Isn't Nero Lite been out for a while now ?
That was the Linux version.
What annoys me isIf they're bundling Ask toolbar, that's enough to stop me even downloading this, right there. I'm very disappointed to see Nero associating themselves with that. Free or not .... no way. Not me.Users should also be aware that the software will prompt users to install the bundled Ask Toolbar during setup - you can, fortunately, opt out if you choose to do so.
Nero Micro is great.... don't know if there's a v9 version of it though? I'm still packing 8.3.6.0 or something I think.
Was tempted to move over to ImgBurn, as it seems to be the "pro" tool of choice I didn't get along with the layout though... maybe I should give it another try?

Wow, people still use Nero? Seriously, I thought everyone had started using ImgBurn (which btw was updated a couple of days ago)...

Yup, after a VERY long time of using and advocating DaemonTools, I finally had enough of the stupid installer trying to install a couple of peices of crap I don't want near my PC and ended up switching to MagicDisc instead.
I am sure - for the most part - the strategy works, which is a shame as it means we will keep seeing this crap bundled as long as people keep clicking through installs without reading everything
Even so, it's nice to see (probably) the most popular CD burning software given a free download, even if it is just the basics.

IF youa re willing to pay, you should go for Roxio instead of Nero. I always liked the GUI
I only discovered ImgBurn recently, awsome little tool. Easy to use, burns quickly and it burns properly. I always thought my DVD burners were slow but now I know it was just Nero.
I mainly ditched Nero because it messes up my music discs. It chops off the beginning or end of a song and random songs will be scratchy in the middle.
I have so far re-burned 10 of my music discs without problem with IMGBurn. Whether Nero is free or not I'm not going back.
I'll not touch Nero again after noticing quite how much memory it was using even when not in use. I've moved to CDBurnerXP and haven't looked back since.
