:) whew. bit of sense at lastQuote:
10in displays are the sweet spot for netbooks,
Or is this discontinuation of the 12in netbook a move to protect sales of conventional notebooks, which sell for considerably more than netbooks?
Do they?
Not when you can pick up a conventional laptop from Tesco for £350.
i think it's a lot more complicated than that. Netbooks aren't just cheap, they are small as well. a 12" 'netbook' isn't really much smaller than a regular laptop, and it performs like a dog in comparison.
Nobody has ever been going to buy a portege and decided to plump for a 12" "netbook" instead. And if they have then they deserve a lifetime of dissapointment tbh
After dragging my Studio 15 around in a backpack for the best part of 6 months, there's no way I'd buy another laptop for "portability". I would've happily taken the slower speeds and gone for a 12" like this instead... but given the choice between cheap atom and more expensive Core 2 at the same weight, I'd take the latter. Maybe they are right.
