    News - AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition already available

    This is all well and good, with a higher stock speed but to be completely honest I really can't see the point in this processor... the 955 represents great bang for buck (pound?) and for however much more this model is, depending on where you look, you really don't get much more out of it other than 200Mhz which can be EASILY pushed out of the 955 from what I've seen... on stock cooling!

    If you're overclocking then this chip is a higher binned chip - it'll be more stable at high speeds.

    That's why world records with dual core intel chips are done with the highest rated E8600 rather than the lower rated E8400, or with the i7 975 rather than i7 920s. Yes the chips are made on the same process, but the higher binned ones will always be more stable at high overclocks.

    And overclocking voids your warranty too - some people don't want to take that risk, thus will buy the higher stock speed chip.
