There's a review of this PSU here: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php...Story&reid=161 but that's a pre-release model so the final could be different.

1000W that's mad. Nobody would buy one of those.

You'd probably get away with a 620w for that, maybe less

Re: News - BFG fleshes out 1,000W modular power supply

I've got a HX520W and that to me seems overkill for one of my systems, think about the waste of electricity through the inefficient usage?

Using a higher rated PSU doesn't necessarily mean it will draw more power - only if it's less efficient at the desired output wattage.

Re: News - BFG fleshes out 1,000W modular power supply

The BFG power supply have a feature I never understood , the ability to keep an acceptable % of efficiency even at low load , can someone explain this feature please ?

Re: News - BFG fleshes out 1,000W modular power supply

Well a lot of PCs (ie ones without 4 GPUs, 2 CPUs and water cooling) won't draw very much power when idle so having the PSU efficient at low loads is important since it's where most PCs will spend most of their time It's not just BFG supplies - a lot of PSUs offer good efficiency at low loads even if they don't state it but since below 20% doesn't effect 80 plus MFRs can get away with low efficiency at low loads and still get the 80 plus badge. JonnyGuru tests low load efficiency: http://www.jonnyguru.com/index.php .
