Frankly for the money you pay, you would expect the phone not to try kill you at least.
I don't think it was copy and paste, think it was the over heating - you can't use them in direct sunlight you know.

Ahh.... this worries me as I was planning to upgrade my 3G to a 3GS... if it's gonna explode on me, that would not be a profitable decision.

LMAO, I recon its just a design feature that has kicked in 12months to early.... Apple meant this to start happening just after they released the Iphone4 (an ambulance) as a way to encourage people to upgrade...
I think this makes sense for Apple, if the iphone/pod explodes and just so happens to take the user with it then there's no one left to complain. Win Win.
I reckon they ran a GPS thing on it, the iPhone became briefly sentient, realised it was in France, and did the only sensible thing.
