Make sure you get the version from Sapphire direct, rather than the generic drivers.

These drivers sound like they're really targeted at AMD chipset users - I really hope AMD don't go too far down that route in the future because I want to be able to run my AMD GPU in an Intel system

The 9.6 and 9.7 from sapphires site were the same as generic ones. Anyway have tried 9.8 and they are working on my 4850x2 under windows 7 x64 a minor niggle in that when systems boots using DVI the monitor signal goes off only way round it to unplug and plugging back in again sorts it. This problem affects quite a few users on AMD forums.
