I'd have thought the reasons for a police force were obvious. For a start, we need someone to persecute .... I mean, prosecute .... all those speeding motorists. And, of course, beat up peaceful protesters. And someone has to provide politicians with bodyguards, or the Home secretary wouldn't be able to go out and get a kebab again.

I saw an article in the sun years ago and it showed prisons from around the world and even the one in France was a total dump. They then showed a prison in the UK and they had sky TV, personal TV's and pool tables. It looked more like a posh hostel than a prison. We are too soft in this country and thats why people re-offend time and time again. They should do what they do in the US and put them in orange boiler suits and make them work cleaning up the streets.

Most judges these days in the papers just seem so devoided from reality that they don't seem to have a clue.
