Very strange.. with an increasing amount of content becoming available through download you'd expect them to concentrate on consoles with hard drives, instead it looks like they're turning the hard drive-less system into the normal one and making the ones with hard drives a luxury/top-end market.
I can only think they'll drop the price again prior to Christmas to stimulate sales once they've got over any FM3 bounce, especially in light of PS3 price cuts.
I can't in any way imagine how this will help improve sales.

If that's the case it still doesn't make any sense at all. If the Elite gets a massive price cut, some say £60. The Arcade gets a price increase of £30. So an Elite will now cost £160. The Arcade will now cost £160.
Anyone see a problem with this?

IMO an Elite @ £160 is an absolute bargain.

I'd expect the elite to come in closer to the £200 mark to be honest, the rumour stateside is it'll be dropping to $200 so £200 sounds about right to me.
i thought it was already around £200 anyway i upgraded to the elite a couple of months ago and paid £230ish with 3 games.
I think the rrp is still £229 although you're right most retailers are knocking them out at £220/30 with a couple of games.
