it reminds me when I got my slim ps2 burnt......
Not too sound like a hater but im still waiting for some more games that i want to play on my PS3, ive got GT5Killzone 2 and LBP - nothing else seems worth buying though

Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
I cannot see the picks very well on my mob.
However I was reading how valve has said it still will not touch PS3.
Also I hear that PS3 is a pain in the ass to port to when doing multi platform releases.
Thing is though, PS3 games like Infamous looks amazing. And the new Final Fantasy will be a stunning game.
Still they will need a lot more great and unique titles to get me to buy one.
With Blu Ray drives for under £50 for PC there is little else screaming "I am worth £250."
This is my problem though, multi-platform games im going to buy on my 360 because to put it simply - its better. FF13 i will probably buy on my 360 so i can sit in party chat and talk about aspects of the game, this is unless there is a major quality difference between the 2 platforms. Uncharted seemed pretty standard fare to me so number 2 hasnt got me pumped so i dont know where else to lookIts a cracking media player though

I've been a little surprised like you at the speed at which they have released a "slim" model. But Sony have shown over the years that they like to fiddle with the design of their consoles if they can make production cheaper. Both the PS1 and PS2 were tweaked during their life for cost improvements before the release of the "slim" models. The smaller/modified models make perfect business sense, even in the middle of a recession, they will make much more profit on these than the previous model. I only wish that MS had the balls to do a Sony and do a major redesign of the 360
I don't think it was the design of the PS3 that was meant to last 10 years, rather it was the functionality. the inclusion of Blu-ray, Bluetooth and built in Wi-Fi seems to support that. Also with the firmware upgrades we have seen some very good enhancements, Blu-Ray being one of them and the next one being a dedicated iPlayer app. The PS2 is still going strong with good sales figures, now at 138m units worldwide. If they can continue to make the PS3 for another 7 years, its sales figures should be healthy.
One thing that isn't being mentioned is the arrival of new next gen hardware. The 360 is 4 in December, its about this sort of time that we start hearing rumours about what could be going into the new consoles. With the recession it will not be a normal cycle, the 360 and PS3 need to last another 2-3 years before we see anything new come out. Se we will see an extended console generation.
All those games are on my wanted list as well, heavy rain was shown at the Sony conference, so i will try and get hold of the video if i can find it.
No harm taken. But it does get annoying that there are so many people knocking Sony for having what is perceived to be an expensive console. Yet these same people have bought multiple 360's or sent them for a trip round Europe because MS couldn't design a reliable console. Yet still say that Sony are failing this generation. Too many idiots on the interweb![]()
If it ain't broke...... *
Respect to Sony and nice to see a price cut along with it. Doubtfull this alone is gonna do them anygood in the longrun. It isnt about looks, cost or even games at this stage in the "cycle" me reckons. It's about about current market share and chances are more of your mates have a 360, so what are you more likely to buy? Sony need to come up with something radical, as they've missed their chance to exploit RROD. With Arcades readily available at £100, claiming technical superiority and having the odd decent exclusive game is only going to take you so far...
*If your not lucky enough to own a Jasper it probably already has. But! You've no doubt replaced it with a Jasper, so...
/Not a fanboi. Own both, play neither these days, as they suck equally hard and havent seen a decent game in ages (GT5 should change that!)...
I'm not sure - I think there are still a wave of people thinking of switching from the likes of the PC to a console, yet have had concerns about cost, size, reliability and software library of each of the console choices. I'm certainly in that position, and while there's something about each of the consoles I like, there isn't a single console that does it for me, and if I'm going to buy two consoles then I might as well buy another PC(I like the size and cost of the Wii, reliability of the Wii and PS3, software library/SDK and controls of the X360).
All my mates are still PC gamers, though most have a Wii as well. It's about about current market share and chances are more of your mates have a 360, so what are you more likely to buy?
Nice of MS to help Sony out by increasing the price isn't it?Arcades readily available at £100![]()
PS3 is still ahead of the 360 in the EU in terms of sales I believe, not that it really matters to usI really feel that the only reason the PS3 doesnt feel like its 'performing' to Sony's expectations is the price. There is really nothing between either system in the view of joe public, except for the substantial (percieved) price difference.
Dodgy logo aside, I think the new unit looks great. Gamesradar HD unboxing vid here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrOS_0Ulv7M
Smaller
Non-fingerprinty matt black plastic
Intergrated power supply
Actual tactile buttons instead of touch sensitive ones
Dramatically reduced power consumption (Fingers crossed for the new revision systems being even quiter and more reliable)
I have to say that I still like the looks of the chunky model.

Technically at least, the quality gap has shrunk with regards to multi format games. For instance, Dead Space could be quite happily played on either system with barely a distinguishable difference, the same cannot be said for The Darkness. There are also superior PS3 version multi format titles, not that the differences are usually enough to sway your purchassing decision.
It still feels like the 360 has the upper hand with Live. The next COD Modern Warfare is a 360 purchase because of the online aspect- no brainer really.
I'm glad im not the only one to think this. Its a great game but hardly worthy of the praise heaped upon it. A bit of a 'Gears of War' imo - great graphics masking an average game). I'll still get DF2 at some point howeverOriginally Posted by Terbinator
Kalniel, just buy one already (a console that is)
Its not really clear what MS are playing at yet. Price hike... Wut

That I wasnt aware of, poor showing by MS to be honest. I read somewhere recently that the Pro model is being dropped and the Elite coming down in price. All so MS can slot a revised machine in at the top of the range with full body motion tracking something or other. Just noticed the Hexus article, so off to read that in a second. What do we reckon, as the Arcade has only recently seen a price drop. Microsoft raising the price of the budget option, to tweak the range so the new baby doesnt look overpriced and out of place? No doubt they'll try and sell us some crap about the pound being weak against the dollar and how its the banking industries fault, etc, etc...
Things were simplier when there was one model. You bought it and it played games... If you were loaded, you had a shakey controller and one of those 4MB expansion pack things in your N64.![]()
Size means it will fit in a lot nicer with other a/v devices under the tv.
Who cares how slim it is? Just make a PS4 dammit.

This is going to be £250 or around that in the UK. The elite is having a price drop, not sure of the price of that. But the arcade going up in price and the rumour that the pro is going and the elite coming down in price maybe true. Sony maybe trying at long last to compete with the xbox 360 price wise.
You need an N64. I'm still having games of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark now
That reminds me... need Perfect Dark on the live arcade *drool*
