Anybody else worried about the fact that BT are screaming about their new 20mb home broadband services, when wireless carriers are working on 100mb for your mobile...

My mobile already has a faster connection when Virgin throttle my broadband. Are we going to start seeing 4g dongles with a faster connection speed than our home broadband? 3g is currently at 7.2mb's

Re: News - EU backs LTE 4G mobile technology

It's defo the way to go. I've had endless hassle and problems with my home connection. at best it manages 2.5mb's when it wants to. The rest of the time we're looking at 0.10mb's and a crackly line. Worst thing is, the ISP does pointless endless line tests that reveal nothing, BT says tell the ISP, the ISP says tell BT. an engineer comes around, who does nothing because he's not a broadband engineer. A broadband engineer comes around, and still does pretty much next to nothing.

    Ha, rant over.

My point is, if these future technologies save me having to use a crappy BT line that breaks faster than it gets fixed, then the way forward.

Re: News - EU backs LTE 4G mobile technology

this is really whats needed to put pressure on BT/Virgin to use the fact that in digging up a trench to the cabinet, they could easil run enough fibre for little % aditional cost to allow for very high bandwidth, far more than wireless can at present dream of.

My fear is they won't, instead they will continue charging £11 a month for a PSTN service no one uses anymore.
