Looks a bit cheap!
Does this still have built-in wireless, and what kind of video outputs does it have?
Shame the majority of game developers are loathed to code for it, it may be nicer hardware but until Sony end their obsession with proprietary software we won't be seeing any decent or frequent releases worth the expense.
My 2 cents anyway.
Life is like a hair on a toilet seat. Sooner or later you're bound to get pissed off!
The price is still very off putting for me still... bit confused why they have removed the ability to install linux, I thought that was one of the plus points :S
also you can get the 80GB current model with 2 games for this price.

At today's exchange rate, $299 is £182. Yet another example of rip-off Britain.will be priced at £249 in the UK, €299 in Europe and $299 in the US
If these were priced at under £200, they'd sell like hot cakes. I might even buy one myself!
That's what I am waiting for, brother has a PS3 and I play on it most times I visit him but I won't buy one until they hit the £200 or lower mark.

What your both missing is taxation, which is not down to Sony. You have the import tax, then you have to add VAT. That $299 price also gets taxed but at the till, normally 6%. Just be glad we are not getting the exchange rates we used to in the past, $1=£1, otherwise they would be dropping the console to £299. The only good thing MS have done this generation was to break this exchange system.
One thing that still bugs the hell out of me. Sony (could be anyone) drop the price yet people still moan
...Because they havent dropped it enough! All this talk about exchange rates and what not is irrelevant because the overall cost of the console and the blu-ray games which work on it are too high whatever country you are in. Whether its because the cell chips and/or other componants are so expensive that thats what they had to do, or whether its just Sony capitalizing on their proprietary gear the way they always do i dont know. The overall problem is they didnt develop their product around the market as well as MS and Nintendo did and thus it will continue to come in third place until they correctly address the issue. If a £250 product is their idea of attracting the market they missed the first time round then someone needs to put some amphetamines in their cereal and wake them up.
£182 + import duty £4.55 (2.5%) x 1.15 (VAT) is still only £214.53.
Vote with your wallet, don't support rip-off pricing!
