The original Sony models have been on sale for ages now in Waterstones, both online and in-store. My biggest problem is deciding between one of these and an iPod Touch. I suspect the Sony product gives a better "pick up and use" experience, but the iPod Touch obviously has multiple functions (for example, listening to music whilst reading a book)

i thought you could do that on the ereaders? That is to say listen to mp3s whilst reading

Fairly sure you can.

The main difference is the quality of the screen and battery life, the ipod touch should be measured in minuites.

I know about them but would just love the connected version. I really wouldn't use an ipod for book reading. I have tried on my iphone and its a bloody nightmare.
