Huh?.. Hollywood hasn't even gotten 16:9 right, half the TV shows are really aired at 4:3, what the hell is the point in getting a 21:9 ratio display if *nobody* is producing footage at that ratio?

Aww... Am I the only one that liked the Ambi-light system ?

Anyone recall the AmBX system for the PC as well - whatever happened to that as it launched with a bang and then sort of just went a bit awol.

Far Cry 2 has AmBX support, but I've never seen any other games specifically design for/endorse it. In a way it's a shame as I like the idea of it, but it's just too expensive for a novelty.

i have an ambilight tv and the lighting makes viewing really comfortable. it feels like a massage for your peripheral vision everytime you turn it on. makes other tvs look harsh and thirsty for colour in comparison

this got a mention in my recently submitted dissertation, but in terms of visual impact and what not, this is defo for a niche market i'd say.

I like Philips tv, their panels have been becoming increasingly better of the years, plus I love the new ambilight feature.

At £3500 there is no chance I would buy this tv. For that price I could buy 60inch 1080p, ps3, sky hd and a 5.1 surround system and still have money left over. But if it falls to under £2000 I might be tempted

Ambilight is awesome. I'd have loved it in my TV, but sadly Philips' UK pricing isn't very good. My 42" Panny plasma cost me £900, the equivalent Ambilight set was £1400! Apparently they're a bit more competetive in Europe.

The biggest problem with Philips high end TVs, other than the price, is that they are really unreliable - so if you do pick one up, make sure it comes with a 5 year protection plan!
