Hmm will be intersting to see how this runs on my diamond 2, did use 6.5 on my kaiser for a while, but still on the stock rom with my TD2. Have seen some good vids of 6.5 recently, but I really want the latest version of htc manila.

Been using 6.5 since the 1st beta's came out on my kaiser. It has changed a lot recently. A lot more stable, faster and now use it as my main OS(also works really well on my dad's touch HD). Be nice to see the marketplace working. The apps store is the only thing that may have tempted me to iphone so the marketplace should be a competitor(will take a while though with the amount of apps currently available for the iphone).

I use WM6.5 as my main OS on my Touch HD, works fine altho I am using it with TouchFlo3D so dont really see a great deal of the under the hood stuff.

Looking forward to HTC releasing their promised Touch Diamond 2 ROM with 6.5.

I think the market place will make a huge difference to WinMob.

windows mobile 7 is supposed to be coming out next year and it's supposed to be a big change, this seems to be an intermediate release(but has a lot of changes in it).

Yup. WM7 is a ground up re-write apparently, 6.5 is the last from the current code base.

What MS have said though is that 7 will not replace 6.5 they will compliment each other. 7 for high end multi media oriented devices, 6.5 for lower end models. I would suspect that all these basic business handsets will continue to be 6.5 and 7 will be all the fancy new ones competing with the iPhone and similar.

So in otherwords 6.5 will exist to allow them to charge more for 7.

Really? I mean with the pressure of PalmPre, Android and the toy phone, they will surely have to compete on a low price point?

Or taken another way, it lets them sell 6.5 for less as opposed to bumping the price of 7.
