I remember the pitch, you can call up the seller for free and ask questions, sure, you get a bunch of kids spamming you and the rest are fools who dont read the description. Did ebay even have a skype number you could call for help?

Doomed from that start...google would have been better buying it , instead (or as well as) developing google voice...

Probably not. Or only for regular sellers, like their Customer Service telephone numbers, another reason to dislike the bay.
