I do like the Bravia's, but the £100-£250+ premium they carry over other high quality TV makes them very hard to justify! :(

Agreed. But, I think it\'s just Europe where Sony is expensive.

They are very nice though. And it makes your living room look a lot tidier without Freesat / Freeview boxes sitting all over the place.

You do get a SONY 3 year warranty with their televisions included in the price.
I believe the only manufacturer that does.

Panasonic offer a 5 year warranty. This may be with offline purchases only.

It's usually a retailer discretion/promotion thing iirc - my Pioneer came with a 5 year warranty, but only if you bought it at a retail store
Re: News - Sony introduces its first freesat-ready LCD TVs
Havent the Viera's had this for some time ?
Re: News - Sony introduces its first freesat-ready LCD TVs
Yup, for a couple of years iirc

And Japan !
My company has offices in Japan, and recently someone from there came to the UK for a week. When she saw the prices of Sony TVs in UK retailers, she was on to them trying to get them to quote for delivery to Japan!
Can you imagine go into your local branch of Currys and ask them about delivering a 46" Plasma telly to Tokyo.
I think the main reason for the price difference is the very strong Yen and weak pound.

Yup - Panasonic paid to have exclusivity of this tech for a set period. Strange really. If I was Freesat I would try to get their service as an industry standard as quick as possible.

Did Panasonic pay for exclusive rights, or were they payed to adopt Freesat and then given exclusivity in return?
Personally I can see the later being more likely.
