Congratulations Microsoft, I will now be buying an iPod Touch as you are unable to actually release outside of America.

I had been holding off replacing my aging Sony with a Zune HD, but I can't be waiting indefinitely for them to realize that there is a whole world of people out there.

Re: News - Microsoft confirms: Zune HD will remain US only

Not really an issue, I've been using mine in the UK for well over a year, although a full release would be nice for certain functionality I still prefer my Zune 80 to my crappy old iPod.

No rush to replace yet, there's only a 32GB version and not desperately fussed about touch screens either, but I'll likely go back to zunethings for an HD in due course.

That said, the full briefing says they are working on 18 markets, presumably for the Xbox Zune launch at which point with UK XBox's getting Zune we might see things change.

What a stupid decision. I bet Apple are grinning from ear to ear!

Just buy it from there, seems like a simple solution to all of this!

Re: News - Microsoft confirms: Zune HD will remain US only

I really don't understand Microsoft. Saw the LIPS game intro last night for the first time - big advert for the Zune in it. Why bother if your not going to bother selling it. They can't have much confidence in it as a product.

Re: News - Microsoft confirms: Zune HD will remain US only

I can't believe so many are lapping up this "Story". We already knew that the Zune HD would be exclusive to the US "for the time being" and that Microsoft would only release it in other countries when the time it right. This isn't news, it's tabloid crap that you'd expect to see on The Register or other similar sites.

My question is, what reply did Ars expect? Release dates? Confirmation that a release was coming? A detailed Zune roadmap? Terms under which the Zune HD would see a release outside of the US? They were never going to get any kind of worthwhile response. Must be a slow news day...

Congrats for summarizing the entirety of Zune's marketing for Europe in a single image!
