i know many many people who have had them fail including myself. I would say avoid, it seems to me WD just chuck the worst of the bunch in their external lines. I hav had WD internal hard drives for 8 years and they are still going wheras my mybook lasted a year and a half.

I had two of the last generation and both failed, hopefully these new ones will be better.

Re: News - Western Digital extends My Book line of external desktop drives

Why no e-Sata connection? Surely they must be Sata drives internally, in which case its just a through connection?
I need an external drive, but I'm not going to invest without e-Sata.
