Yeah not sure how you read this. This is brilliant news for the consumer. If you fear that BT will now bump its prices up then you have misread the article.

It means BT can now charge less for bunldes compared to when they had restrictions in place. To compete with SKY and Virgin BT can now lower bundle prices. Good news if you use BT for services like broadband, Telephone and BT.

Although I think BT were offering very cheap bundles to existing customers already if they threatened to move. I pay only 14 pounds for my option 3 bt boardband for example.

    Really....

/me starts stroking beard and cackling.

Last bill off them was quarterly bill from them was nearly 200 quid, I smell a phonecall and some haggling in my near future.

Cheap does not always mean that it is good though, and this was reflected in the amount of calls and emails I used to recieve from friends and family who were having broadband issues.

In the end I was getting too many phone and email requests for help from people on either Tiscali or talktalk so I've told people that I'm no longer able to give them assistance and check their hardware every time they have issues such as ping spikes, high pings and response times and data loss.

Has never let me down. But, then again, different people have different experiences.

    Aggressive pricing sounds good!

2.5mb is not that bad, there are people getting alot worse.

Anyhow its up to 8mb , they do state clearly that speed to affected by how far you live from the local exchange. I used to live 300 meters or so from my local exchange and got 7.1mb - had to move though and now only get 5mb.

Re: News - Ofcom drops restrictions on BT pricing

I'm firmly in the this is bad news camp. BT already throttle the life out of connections in the evenings, charging less for the service is hardly going to improve things.......
